Fatal Shooting

            On May 31, 2011 at 8:40 pm, Caldwell County Communications Center received a phone call for assistance in reference to a gunshot wound at 1371 Draco Road in Lenoir.   When Deputies arrived on the scene, they found the victim, Sean William Braswell, 19 years of age of 1519 Starcross Road in Lenoir with a gunshot wound to the chest.  The victim was transported to Caldwell Memorial Hospital where the victim died.

            The victim and an acquaintance were target practicing with a shotgun. While reloading the gun, it appeared to have misfired and struck the victim in the chest.  Investigators have met with the District Attorney’s Office and have determined that at this time no charges are expected to be filed.

            Sheriff Alan Jones stated, “This is a tragic event and our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of all parties involved.”
