Kids Safe Night Out
The Sheriff's Alternative to Halloween
Unfortunately in today's climate, trick or treating at a
strangers house may not be the safest course of action. Although there
are many, many homes in our community who give out candy and goodies to
children on Halloween and have no ill intent whatsoever, there may be a
handful of those who give out goodies with ulterior motives.
The Sheriff began in 2006 offering kids a safe alternative to Halloween.
Sheriff Alan Jones says, " I have children of my own and I wanted to
ensure that they could go somewhere, play games, get candy, and be safe.
I wanted the community to have that as well."
With the success of the first Kids Safe Night
Out in 2006, we knew we had to continue this.
Sheriff Alan Jones and volunteers from his
office and the community, including businesses and individuals, made 2007's
event even more successful.
There were at least 2000 to 3000 people who came
through this event in a 3 hour period.
Thank you again for helping us to keep children
in our county safe.
